1. Does it Fit Your Branding?
When you have a brand that represents your efforts, almost everything you come out with should match so your audience can easily set your content apart from the rest. Factors to consider include the colors and fonts used with the image, as well as the overall style of the image.
That style may involve watermarks and certain compositions that you must use consistently, which is where templates can come in to make things easier. Having everything consistent to your branding ensures the image does not clash with the image of your brand.

2. Does it Connect with the Audience?
The image must engage the audience either through curiosity or comedy. Perhaps you can even combine both for greater effect if you happen to have one of those rare images that both fascinates and humors them.

3. Is it Optimized for Facebook?
When an image gets uploaded to Facebook, it gets converted and compressed to prevent overly impacting browser performance and downloads. If your image is too big in terms of file size, it may get trimmed and compressed, which can send the image quality to kingdom come. To prevent this, you must first prepare said image with a couple of things.
If it's a high-resolution image, then you may want to decrease the size since Facebook will adjust it anyway to a maximum of 1200x900. You can also decrease the image quality slightly to bring the file size down so it becomes easier to upload and process in Facebook. 4. Is it Acceptable According to Facebook Guidelines?
If you haven't read the guidelines for posting on Facebook, then now may be a good time to brush up on it.
Understanding the terms and conditions is a good way to prevent having your posts reported and taken down. This can be quite the hassle and even result in your page being deleted in severe cases.
Obviously, depictions of nudity and blatant sexual imagery are prohibited. If you do intend to use sexy images, just make sure it's tasteful and doesn't cross into pornographic territory. The same goes for any explicit depiction of gore or other objectionable images.
You must also make sure it doesn't offend your audiences' sensibilities. It's not just about posting within the boundaries of the guidelines, but also about being decent and respectful to other people. In some respects, “there is no such thing as bad publicity,” but it might not be worth it for you to post something that will make people angry and not return to your page.
It's also interesting to note that Facebook has been outsourcing its moderation of Facebook content to a team on Upwork (formerly Odesk). While the automatic filter system may be good enough to dissuade a good number of potential undesirable posts, it takes human judgment to determine what may or may not be objectionable content.
5. Does it Provide Any Value?
The most important question you need to ask yourself before publishing visual content is whether the image actually adds value to both your brand and your audience. You wouldn't want to spam your page with images unrelated to your brand and audiences' interests; that may even be detrimental to your brand's goals.
